Manchester City earn valuable draw in Champions League quarter final first leg

Days after inspiring Manchester City to a Premier League win at Bournemouth on his comeback from injury, Kevin De Bruyne shone again as his team claimed a 2-2 draw at Paris St Germain in their Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday.

The two away goals give the English side the edge in their Champions League quarter-final tie.

Fernandinho pounced on poor home defending at the Parc des Princes to equalise after PSG had fought back to lead following Kevin De Bruyne’s opener. “But if we can put in a similar performance in the second leg and get the same amount of chances, we will score goals”, the coach added. It’s very important now to play the second leg at home not thinking we have already qualified.

“They have players who can make the difference in any moment and De Bruyne is one of them”.

Manchester City had the same project a bit before Paris Saint-Germain. We made mistakes we’re not used to but maybe it’s the quality of this City team and the way they pressed us. We made a lot of mistakes tonight. We should have scored first, but unfortunately we didn’t and City opened the scoring.

“But their project is to go as far as possible and one day win it, and we have the same ambitions or to do even better, so it’s up to us for compete with what they have done”.

The Belgium worldwide became Manchester City’s record signing in the summer when he joined from Wolfsburg for £55million. “We’ll see what happens”. “We allowed them to come back”.

Neutral fans don’t believe Manchester City can qualify against PSG and if they succeed they will be knocked by world super clubs, Barca, Madrid and Muchen. We lost possession too easily.

Marco Verratti and Javier Pastore will also miss the game due to the injuries that prevented them from featuring in Paris as PSG go to England having to overcome the handicap of those away goals.

Ibrahimovic was guilty of frittering away a glorious chance to hand PSG the lead as his 12th minute penalty, awarded for Sagna’s foul on ex-Chelsea defender Luiz, was turned away by Hart. “I know he did everything possible to play today but it is better for us when he doesn’t”.
