City said: “A key figure in a golden age in the Club’s history, Joe has collected as many individual prizes as he has team honours in his decade at the Etihad Stadium”.

Acquah, who will join his new teammate after the worldwide break, believes Hart will improve their stock this term.

The England goalkeeper has joined the Italian club for the remainder of the season after new City manager Pep Guardiola made it clear he had no future at the club.

Hart is on worldwide duty with England this week but has been given permission to fly to Italy to resolve his future with the British media reporting that he was due to arrive in Turin later on Tuesday. With Claudio Bravo also joining the Citizens, regular playing time was not a certainty for 29-year-old Hart, who joins a Torino side in dire need of a top ‘keeper. Things that are false too because they’ve never shown me the door or anything like that.

Torino will pay around £55,000 a week of his salary, with City finding the rest of his £130,000-per-week wage.

Once the deal is confirmed Hart will rejoin the England squad for Sunday’s first 2018 World Cup qualifying match in Slovakia, reports the BBC.

Hart has made 348 appearances for City in a ten-year spell, could then make his Serie A debut for Torino at Atalanta on September 11.

The Ivory Coast forward was understood to be discussing a move to Stoke after tweeting: “It’s a new day and I look forward to a new exciting challenge”.

Hart’s City team-mate Sergio Aguero was last night left sweating on a retrospective red card for his “elbow” on West ham’s Winston Reid.

Torino have been busy over the transfer window and have roped in a number of players including Adam Ljajic from Roma and Luca Rossettini from Bologna.
