Manchester City launch fan consultation over possible redesign of club badge

“Purely decorational” was the answer when Manchester City made a decision to ditch their classic red rose club badge back in 1997.

The Premier League leaders have used their current “Eagle” logo since 1997, but they have not ruled out a return to any of the previous badges used since 1930, if that’s what the fans want.

City chief executive officer Ferran Soriano said: “The badge is the most visual representation of Manchester City and is so central to our heritage”.

Manchester City are set to resolve the battle over their badge once and for all … by asking the fans to have their say.

As they ponder their response to the consultation fans will be able to access video, graphics and photography to remind them of the rich history of the City badges.

Blues fans will get a say in the design of a new club badge to replace the old one which was introduced nearly twenty years ago.

They will be asked to fill out a formal questionnaire at Saturday’s home clash with Bournemouth and the club have also opened a consultation office outside the Etihad Stadium. “Today is no different”, he declared.

City released their annual report for the 2014/15 season which highlighted a £10.7 million profit ($16.5 million, 14.4 million euros) made by the club over the past year.
