Manchester City unveil new club crest before home game against Sunderland

Manchester City’s new club crest has been released two days before it was meant to be unveiled after an image of the new design was found on the Intellectual Property Office’s (IPO) website.

The new crest appears to be a throwback of sorts – indeed, it looks similar to the one the club used in the 1960s. Previous Manchester City crests have been circular and it looks like the new crest will follow that tradition.

City chose to redesign the club crest earlier this year after giving supporters the opportunity to voice their opinions on the current design and whether they wanted something a little more modern.

Joe Hart, Manchester City’s longest-serving player, told the official website: “I am really looking forward to wearing it. It’s something new”.
