Jingle bells were not just ringing at Disney , celebrations were also seen at Paramount and Fox. A flurry of new films also opened in the top 10 this weekend.

Despite snapping their four game losing streak, Manchester United has gone eight games without a victory in all competitions going back to November 21.

The gist of Bowles’ message after the Houston loss: “Either we’re going to do this or we’re not”, Pace said. This is one of those games that if you went to it, you are happy that the home team came away with a win.

But while he was pleased with the performance, Van Gaal admitted he was frustrated that United’s failure to score for the ninth time this season cost them a badly needed victory.

Although Palestinians agree with the message issued by Mr Abbas, support for the ageing leader is dwindling. He stated the city would erect protecting barriers near bus stations on the city’s main traffic arteries.

However, the signs from the draw from Chelsea was that the players are still trying their best to get things back on track.

“I think there’s a lot of quality in the team, they have let a lot of goals go out of the team with people like [Javier] Hernandez and Robin van Persie”, Scholes told BT Sport. Even after this result the fans were applauding, so I can’t say I’m very much concerned.

United continued to push for a victor – Wayne Rooney volleying their best chance over with four minutes to go – but, with only three goals scored in the last three league meetings between the sides at Old Trafford, a sense of inevitability over a stalemate began to settle on the occasion in the closing stages.

The club recorded their worst start to a season since their 1978-79 campaign, and the poor start has ultimately cost Jose Mourinho his job, with Guus Hiddink now managing the team.

Van Gaal recalled captain Wayne Rooney to his starting XI for the match against Chelsea. It is not a question of staying but of fulfilling my contract. Asked if he could see any way of United recovering to end their winless run, Van Gaal said: “It’s very hard, because we have to recover”.

Van Gaal hinted after a 2-0 defeat at Stoke City on Saturday that he could walk away but, after a performance of attacking intent against Chelsea, he said he would not quit.

In midweek Van Gaal let the media know what he thought of the rumours that he was being sacked as manager but maybe the Dutchman should have concentrated his attention on other matters. David de Gea saved well from John Terry, Azpilicueta and Pedro to keep the visitors at bay and Nemanja Matic wasted a good chance when through on goal. “Of course, a lot of fans are disappointed because we need a win”.

“When the players have done what they’ve done today, the fans can be satisfied”.
