Ryan Giggs has departed his role as Manchester United’s assistant manager, ending an association with the club that lasted almost three decades.
New signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic has arrived at Manchester United expecting to win after being reunited with Jose Mourinho.
Swedish star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who recently retired from global football, said he is delighted to join Manchester United and can not wait to work with head coach Jose Mourinho once again.
“Its a huge decision to step away from the club that’s been my life since the age of 14”.
He told The Sun that “maybe nines times out of 10” Ferguson “would not have made a decision like this” and that is “because of everything that Alex Ferguson wanted to do with youngsters” by “bringing them through and improve them as players”. “I am now ready to create more special memories in England”, he added.
And Giggs now admits those years under Ferguson, as well as his two seasons in the dug-out next to van Gaal, will help him when he takes his first steps into the world of management.
Giggs is believed to have been unhappy with the direction in which United went after Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.
Giggs is though by many to be a United manager in the making and whilst their often seemed to be strained relationships with Louis van Gaal, Giggs still had a year on his contract after van Gaal left at the end of the season.
“He wanted to be Manchester United manager”, Mourinho said.
Basically I think it’s good for anyone just to get out there to manage and learn the job.
Prior to that, he was a fixture in United’s first team for 23 years, scoring 168 goals in all competitions and winning 13 Premier League titles, four FA Cup winner’s medals, three from the League Cup and two Champions League winner’s prizes.
2014 Takes over as interim United manager for final four games of season after Moyes is fired. He is in that category, definitely, and I know he has the mentality to win on the pitch, even in training sessions.
He thanked fans for their “phenomenal” support.
‘He has tackled his coaching and management responsibilities with similar rigour and diligence.
He has been tipped as a future United manager, but is now likely to seek a role with another club.
