Lambert was once of Rovers himself but didn’t hesitate to net against them within hours of confirming his move to West Brom.
Lambert – who will take the no. 17 shirt at West Brom – was hailed as a “good, strong, solid player” by Pulis after the move went through.
“It’s very important that we get players who will score goals”.
Lambert had just two Premier League goals to his name from 25 games for Liverpool last season, 18 of those off the substitutes’ bench.
Lambert found playing time very hard to come by in his only season with Liverpool, and with the arrivals of Danny Ings and Christian Benteke, the outlook was even bleaker. “He’s a big, physical striker but he can play and I’m pleased to welcome him to the football club”.
West Brom have completed the signing of Liverpool cast-off Rickie Lambert for the princely sum of £3million.
In other Premier League news, Aston Villa have signed French midfielder Jordan Veretout from Ligue 1 club Nantes on a five-year contract.
He made a memorable England debut against Scotland in an August 2013 friendly at Wembley, rising from the bench to head home the winning goal in a 3-2 victory with his first touch as an global footballer.
And he revealed he was looking forward to linking up with Saido Berahino.

Lambert showed little signs of rustiness, netting twice in the rout against a team that he played for earlier in his career.
