David de Gea has been dropped for Manchester United’s game against Tottenham because he has been mentally affected by speculation regarding his future, according to manager Louis van Gaal.

For the past two seasons, Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea has been the rock that anchors the Manchester United defense, as the 24-year-old has quickly and firmly established himself as one of the world’s top goalies.

Goalkeeper David de Gea could be headed from Manchester United to Real Madrid and will sit out the opening match of the Premier League season.

De Gea’s contract at Old Trafford expires in 2016 and he has declined to sign a lucrative extension. “I think a human being is more than just a player“, said Van Gaal on Friday.

Argentina No. 1 Sergio Romero will likely get his first start for the club against Spurs, Anders Lingaard (who is nursing an injury) waiting in the wings.

New signing Bastian Schweinsteiger will not play against Spurs, with Van Gaal saying he lacks match fitness.

Now, after his best season in a Red shirt last season he’s looking to kick on after signing a new deal worth a reported £120,000 per week.

-Daily Star “Sunderland are set to seal a sensational swoop for Manchester United starlet Adnan Januzaj – but only if Pedro arrives at Old Trafford“. “You have to wait and see who is starting”.

That to me suggests that they should continue as a duo until, hopefully, a new defender is signed.

Van Gaal has a number of replacements in his squad for Saturday’s game, but none of them are ideal.

As such, he has decided to resolve it by dropping the Spain worldwide, who has been named United’s best player in each of the last two seasons.

“He is the best goalkeeper we have had the last three years”.

“Maybe I’m wrong, but I think fewer points will win the title”, he said. “We have to build the fitness he needs”.

“I like them to come on July 3, but Rojo for example came one week ago”. We have to look for that kind of player.

Lloris fractured his wrist earlier in the summer and although he made an early return to action with a 35 minute run-out against AC Milan in midweek, Pochettino doubts the French global will be able to play the full ninety minutes against United.
