Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney wanted to become the face of Chinese
Wayne Rooney is being targeted as the face of the revamped Chinese Super League as China tries to establish itself as a major football nation, according to reports.

The Chinese Super League has been pumped with investment to try and boost the sport in Asia.
The rumours have emerged just as 30-year-old Rooney has begun to show arguably his worst scoring slump in front of goal this season.
The Manchester United and England skipper still has over three years left on his contract at Old Trafford.
Sven-Goran Eriksson, who worked with Rooney during his stint as England boss, is now at Shanghai SIPG.
We can’t see it happening, but it could be the ideal way for United to save £300,000 a week on a player long past his best.
Having recently surpassed Sir Bobby Charlton to become England’s all-time leading goalscorer, Rooney may think twice about putting his global duty in danger, which may be the case if he moved to the other side of the globe.

Now according to reports from The Sun, it has been claimed that a few unnamed clubs are exploring the possibility of luring United star Rooney on a lucrative deal.
