Manchester United chiefs don’t want Jose Mourinho as manager
That prospect increased yesterday as United ran up a fourth straight defeat under the increasingly embattled Louis Van Gaal.

Real Sociedad midfielder Granero, who played under Mourinho for Real, believes it is only natural for a manager of his former boss’ calibre to be linked to the club.
There have been rumors of a 36 million pound release clause in his new Manchester United contract, which the 25-year-old Spaniard has refused to confirm or deny, and Real Madrid will be looking to take advantage of that very clause once the summer transfer window opens up. Mourinho has been offered an offer to replace Madrid’s current manager Rafael Benitez as soon as possible.
Mourinho would prefer the United job rather than return to Real Madrid where he left amid controversy and under a cloud two-and-a-half years ago. Agents have now sounded out Mourinho’s camp and placed an offer on the table. Where Mourinho will end up is far from clear as of now.
Who knows what’s going to happen at Real Madrid, but one thing that is certain is they are playing tonight against Real Sociedad (7pm UAE time) and Benitez will be in charge.
Speaking on BT Sport before United’s goalless draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford, Scholes said: “I’m not quite sure what that clown’s doing”.

Real included Denis Cheryshev in their starting lineup in a last-32, firstleg game at third-tier Cadiz in early December when he should have been serving a one-match ban.
