Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho, who recently stated that the United board have agreed on four transfer targets this summer, captured the Armenia captain on Wednesday.

“I was very close with Adnan”, Mkhitaryan said after signing with the team.
Mkhitaryan, who scored 23 goals in the Bundesliga last season, had just 12 months of his current deal remaining at Dortmund.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Mourinho will face a battle to win over his squad if he sells the former Valencia man, stating his possible departure would be “very unpopular” inside the dressing room.

Mkhitaryan was 15th in the Bundesliga in goalscoring last season with 11 goals in 31 appearances, but his league-leading 15 assists prove that he is an excellent playmaker that would fit Ibrahimović’s game well, which is what allegedly attracted Mourinho’s attention.
Mourinho’s teams are also known for being defensively resolute, but most of his sides have been one of the top three scorers in their leagues respectively over the last decade or so. He also spoke about the player’s eye for goal, hoping it will serve him well in the premier league.
It does, though, appear a matter of when rather than if the deal is completed given Dortmund’s statement said they “complied with the wishes” of the Armenian in agreeing a deal with United. “We are all looking forward to working with him”, the Portuguese mentor added.
