The 18-year-old Belgium Under-19 worldwide has been monitored by a host of European clubs including Barcelona Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund in the recent months.

The up-and-comer has already won a Belgian league title with Anderlecht in 2014 and played every minute of that year’s 10-match play-off run, a sign of his seniority in the squad, despite his age.

With the likes of Michael Carrick and Bastian Schweinsteiger on the wrong side of 30, the club could be looking to find the next generation of central midfielders.

According to Steve Bates in the Sunday People, Powell is all set to quit Manchester United; the 22-year-old will be allowed to leave next year.

The report says that the teen could be an expensive signing, as he recently signed a five-year deal with the Belgian giants.

His progress stalled due to a serious knee injury while there are growing concerns over his attitude and commitment to training.

Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal has shown a willingness to invest funds in top young talents with the acquisitions of Luke Shaw, Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial costing around £100m and a move for Tielemans won’t come cheap.
