Before last Saturday, Leicester had not led the table since October 2000 when United, who were second then as they are now, came to their old Filbert Street ground, inflicted Leicester’s first defeat of the season winning 3-0 and went on to win the title as the Foxes faded to finish 13th.
United saw comfortably more of the ball in the opening exchanges, but failed miserably to do anything productive with it. They were punished midway through the first half, when Leicester struck with one of their characteristically devastating counter-attacks.
Rooney has managed to score only two goals in the Premier League this season.
Manchester United have confirmed that young striker James Wilson will join Brighton & Hove Albion, which plays in the England’s Championship football competition, on loan. They had some disasters playing in a 3-5-2 last season.
Nevertheless despite failing to capture the imagination of their supporters in recent weeks, United look well equipped to challenge for the Premier League title as they now lie in second place.
Vardy will break Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record of scoring in 10 straight Premier League matches if he finds the net at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy (c) celebrates scoring against Newcastle last week with teammates Danny Simpson (l) and Riyad Mahrez (r).
“Players of his age need to play and I can imagine that fans are saying that this is ridiculous, they have difficulties to score, but that is a short-term thought”.
On Friday, van Gaal addressed the injuries to Jones and Herrera.
It leaves United with just Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial as genuine strikers, and suggests Van Gaal will continue to use midfielders Marouane Fellaini and Memphis Depay as makeshift forwards this season.
“United knew what they were getting when they employed Louis van Gaal, so there can be no complaints now”, Ferdinand said. But it is possible he shall play other matches there. You can not always be top of the bill. But they’re not exciting and, chances are, they never will be.

As well as conceding the least goals in the division this season, United have also completed the most number of passes in the league with 1,750 and their 55% average possession rate is also the highest this term.
