Manchester United prepare big money move for Real Madrid star

Manchester United are plotting a British record transfer bid for Real Madrid star James Rodriguez and have already been in contact with his agent Jorge Mendes, according to the Express.

However, the Independent is reporting that Real are so confident of successfully appealing the transfer ban, which resulted from issues over underage signings, that, rather than rush through a series of moves while they still can this month, Los Blancos are happy to wait until the summer.

The Colombian attacker has made just seven league starts so far this season and the 24-year-old is now set for a move away.

“In another country, at another club, the fans would not be the same as at Manchester United”.

News of Real Madrid’s transfer ban for breaching FIFA rules had many Reds hoping that would put a stop to their pursuit of De Gea but now that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Rodriguez enjoyed a strong first season in the Spanish capital, where he earned himself a Ballon d’Or nomination for his good form providing ammunition for the attacking trio of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo.

United manager Louis van Gaal has made it no secret that he wants to strengthen his squad during the current transfer window in a bid to boost their chances of securing a Champions League-qualifying top-four finish.

“I’m not sure who the best is now, but it’s what I want”.

“The early days were hard, there were some moments when I thought, “This is not the place for me, I need to go back to Spain”, said De Gea, talking of a time when a mistake against Blackburn back in 2011 cost his team the game and him his place in the side. He has always a big contribution for our team. “It’s not so easy to chase players who are better than Mata”.
