Manchester United’s Jose Mourinho hits out at critics of Paul Pogba’s transfer

Following Manchester United’s world-record £89m deal for Paul Pogba, and Manchester City’s heavy spending, Arsenal fans have grown restless with their lack of transfer dealings.

It was Sir Alex who initially let Pogba leave the club after the legendary coach refused to play the teenager despite a dearth of midfield options.

However, the box-to-box midfielder is also targeting the Champions League title and the much-coveted FIFA Ballon d’Or. With Madrid’s financial power, coupled with the fact that they will be competing in this year’s Champions League, Pogba’s decision to move to United pays testament to Jose’s ability as a manager and his ability to attract world class talent.

The Red Devils are out to win the Premier League with the signings of former Villarreal central defender Eric Bailly, Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Dortmund.

“When I first came, I remember when I was at the academy, they used come and drop us”, Pogba added.

Mourinho added that prices were relative, saying “what you think this season is insane you realise three years later is not insane anymore”.

Everything is about money and I know United have spent a lot of money over the past decades which is a big part of why they’re so successful but it’s just getting more and more extreme.

Considering how long this transfer saga has lasted, it’s no real surprise that Pogba’s reveal in a United shirt was unconventional, but bloody hell it didn’t have to happen like this, did it?

Press Association Sport understands the Spanish giants were pushing to sign Pogba until the death, becoming more focused on snaring the midfielder as a return to Old Trafford edged closer.

“It makes the market more unpredictable”, he said.

“The signing of Pogba by @ManUtd is a watershed moment for @premierleague”.

“He’s a very young player, an unbelievable midfield player with such physicality but, at the same time, such agility, co-ordination, skill – he has everything”, Mourinho said.

“I would say I am very excited!”

“Zlatan will be more risky when we are more dominant and play closest to the box”, he said.
