United stopped the rot with a 3-1 win over third-tier Northampton Town in the third round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday after losing to Manchester City, Feyenoord and Watford in the past week.

The reward wasn’t kind for United: A match against Manchester City in the last 16 next month and a renewal of the Mourinho-Guardiola rivalry that has been transferred from Spain to the north of England this season.

United responded through Ander Herrera on 68 minutes and Marcus Rashford, who put the game to bed with 15 minutes still to play.

“I’m not going to change my game now”, he told Sky Sports.

“We had a bad week”. – Mourinho’s team huffed and puffed again, but eventually did enough to blow the League One team’s house down.

And the Spanish midfielder knows that goals will enhance his claims to a regular place in the starting line-up.

And Ince, who played for United for six years before joining Inter Milan in 1995, thinks Rooney is not the only man under performing.

Herrera added: “We know it will be like that, we have no doubt”.

“Now we are facing in the next round Man City, so it’s very good for everyone”. And I think I should be waiting for you, some with honest vision, some with a dishonest vision. “[It was as] hard as I was expecting, but we were totally in control for the first 35 minutes and then we were again in control for the last 45″. He was quoted as saying,”I can understand clearly the disappointment if the fans are disappointed with the last week”.

United eventually overcame the Cobblers 3-1 after Alex Revell levelled the ledger three minutes before half time.
