Manchester United spent £31m on Memphis Depay… but in Adnan Januzaj they

‘I remember the first time I watched him for United and I think about the goal he scored against Sunderland – he can do special things with a football.

Depay was prolific for PSV in the Eredivise last season, scoring 22 goals in 30 league outings as the club claimed the league title.

Depay’s distant performance on Friday didn’t affect the final result with United following up their opening day 1-0 victory over Tottenham with another 1-0 victory courtesy of Adnan Januzaj, which extended their unbeaten record at Villa Park to 20 years.

Louis Van Gaal is expected to deploy Memphis Depay out wide as Juan Mata plays behind Wayne Rooney in the attacking midfield.

Fellow countryman Daley Blind spoke about Depay during an interview with Manchester United TV, praising the winger’s quality and strength while also maintaining that he will get the goals soon. “I think he will score for us very soon”.

“He’s just got to keep going, he tries very hard and the goals will come for sure”.

Januzaj rewarded the Dutchman’s faith by striking in the first half to give the Red Devils all three points in Birmingham and remind everyone of his abilities.

“The good news for Manchester United now is that Januzaj has come back into the equation”, he told Sky Sports.

“I think it’s a matter of time for Memphis. Januzaj is a special player“.

“Now, he wasn’t magnificent today by any stretch of the imagination, but the footballing arrogance will come when he plays more and gains confidence”.

“He drifts past people and has a unique talent like that”.

It is far to say Januzaj enjoyed the better evening of the Manchester United youngster’s, but one can foresee a bright future for them both in van Gaal’s side. “He’s a special player in this team, he can turn people inside out as he did today when he produced a piece of skill to leave Micah Richards for dead before finding the back of the net”.
