Manchester United vs. San Jose Earthquakes

Old Trafford and its 75,000-seat capacity is creaking at the seams for fans salivating over United, but Louis van Gaal’s side apparently can’t sell out the 18,000-capacity Avaya Stadium in California.

But on the attack, United looked impressive and were well worth their second tour win.

Real have signed Kiko Casilla from Espanyol as cover for the departed Iker Casillas and manager Rafael Benitez has denied the club are interested in signing De Gea, who has one year remaining on his United contract.

Therefore, the duo have been ruled out for their next game against San Jose Earthquakes tomorrow.

San Jose has also won 12 of their last 13 games.

Three minutes before half-time the MLS side halved the deficit through Fatai Alashe, who converted at the near post after Shea Salinas beat Morgan Schneiderlin on the right side of the United penalty area.

Indeed, Van Gaal expects his out of condition troops will face a tough challenge from the Earthquakes – who are in the middle of their domestic season – despite the fact the MLS outfit have not tasted victory in five outings.

Every tour game will be shown live on MUTV/MUTV HD.

The name Earthquakes was created by general manager Dick Berg, but was criticized due to San Jose’s proximity to the San Andreas Fault.

Quite how Fellaini is expected to build up his fitness or acquire any sense of match rhythm, if he’s not playing, only Van Gaal knows. He’s had two dominant loan spells in the Championship and is still just 22, so there’s plenty of time for him to translate that success to the Premier League.

Brazil Under-20 midfielder Pereira produced an impressive display in the second-half of United’s 1-0 win over Club America in Seattle, and continued that fine form with a goal against San Jose, a header from a Jesse Lingard cross.

The second set of defenders put out by van Gaal after the interval against Club America which consisted of Paddy McNair, Chris Smalling, Jonny Evans and Tyler Blacket looked very solid as well and it would not be a surprise if the Dutchman elects to start with a couple of the four aforementioned players.

He is a player blessed with natural skill and flair, but it remains to seen if he can make the breakthrough and dislodge some of United’s established names this season.
