Mangum throws four touchdowns in BYU win over Utah State
The BYU Cougars will travel to play the Utah State Aggies in a non-conference game on Saturday.

BYU has an 8-3 record for the season after losing quarterback Taysom Hill and having to transition to Tanner Mangum. Matthews had a game-high 158 receiving yards and two TDs, including a 72-yarder earlier in the game, while Brown had 86 yards of offense and two scores.
The BYU Cougars take on the Utah State Aggies today in a game on the college football schedule which sees the two in-state rival teams facing off against each other with both sporting winning records for the 2015 season and each coming off a big win. He now has four blocked kicks this season. Keeton also struggled in the second half, when he completed only seven of 22 passes for 93 yards. With players such as Hunter Sharp, Bronson Kaufusi, Kyler Fackrell, Nick Vigil, and Kai Nacua on the field, there’s plenty to respect. The best news for Keeton and the 6-6 Aggies, who would watch BYU score 13 unanswered points in this miserable fourth as snow flurries blanketed the blue seats that thousands in this sold out stadium were fleeing just as quickly as the falling flakes, is that they’re still going to a bowl game.
“I take more blame than anything else”, he said. “We’ve progressed with them these last five years and we will miss them”. They will need to shore up the stupid mistakes they’ve been making in recent games, though, such as the bobbled punt catch last week. The Cougars went into the locker room with a 24-21 lead.
“It was a critical stretch right before halftime and coming out of halftime”, Wells said. Tell us about it. The biggest issue with Keeton’s fumble and stunner of a BYU TD to end the half was that BYU also got the ball back to start the second half. BYU was able to hit a 41-yard field goal on its next drive to go up 10-7. BYU has made opposing defenses pay lately, averaging 38 points per game over the last five games. It was just something that I wanted to get out of the way.

The Cougars will get a chance for 10 wins when they play in either the Las Vegas Bowl on December 19 against a Pac-12 opponent, or in the Hawaii Bowl on December 24 against an American Athletic Conference foe. It was special, but at the same time it was part of the game. And past year, the Aggies repaid the favor in full with a dominating performance that saw an unfortunate number of injuries to the Cougars and a USU victory in Cougar territory, 35-20. I know everybody is going to say no, but that’s the truth. It was the first fumble return for a touchdown since Kyle Van Noy’s touchdown in the 2012 Poinsettia Bowl against San Diego State and the longest since Van Noy’s in 2010 against Colorado State. “We haven’t had nine wins in four years”. If we get 10 wins, that would be huge. I hate that we couldn’t send them out as winners here at Maverik Stadium, but they had a heck of a run. We have to rally the troops and play well in the bowl game. “That’s something that is important to us, no matter where we go”.
