Manhunt under way for 2 suspects in shopping center shooting

Authorities say Jason Brown, 18, was driving near a CVS pharmacy in Livermore October. 24 when he opened fire on two men parked in a Toyota Corolla around 6 p.m. One man was killed and another seriously wounded, Livermore police said.

Fresno police investigators identified Brown as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Jason Alexander Brown, 18, is wanted on suspicion of murder and attempted murder after two people were gunned down in a CVS parking lot Saturday night in Livermore. He remains at large and is considered armed and unsafe, police said. Livermore police say the shooting survivor has not been able to speak to investigators. The driver was killed and the passenger was taken to a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

Police said a second victim, 22-year-old Ulizes Benitez of Turlock, was also wounded in the shooting and is still listed in critical condition.

Brown fled from the scene in a black BMW, possibly accompanied by an accomplice, police said.

Police said Sunday that Brown is also suspected of shooting to death Albert Thao, 27, while he dined with a companion in a Thai restaurant on September 12 in Fresno, California. They said the suspect, later identified as Brown, was seen leaving the scene in a gray Dodge Charger.

On Sunday, an Oakand SWAT team raided a home in the 900 block of Center Street in West Oakland, but did not find Brown.

“At this time, we are not ruling him out as a suspect”, Livermore police spokesman Officer Ryan Sanchez said in an email. Authorities are seeking help from the community in locating him.

Police have not provided a detailed description of Brown or the second suspected assailant.

The homicide was the fourth in Livermore this year.
