The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for most of Southeast Nebraska and counties along the Missouri River in northeast Nebraska.

The heat index could reach as high as 105 degrees on Tuesday.

Notice the first map which has the max/min temperatures for today across the state, courtesy of the OK Mesonet. That is in unsafe territory which is why heat advisories and/or warnings are in effect.

Even though there are overcast skies and slight showers, take a chance to enjoy the mild temperatures this weekend because the Eugene-Springfield area is expected to get another heat wave mid-week. Those that did not saw temperatures hover in the mid 90s throughout the daytime hours. Highs today will top out in the 90s with heat indices above 100. Most areas will stay dry but there is a 20 percent chance of a shower or storm, especially during the afternoon. But, so far at least we have not had a triple digit temperature and just maybe we can avoid one this coming week as well.
