Manning returns to practice, Osweiler still the starter
Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said quarterback Peyton Manning will return to practice on Wednesday.

Here’s what Coach Kubiak had to say about Manning’s soreness.
According to Mike Klis of KUSA, Manning returned to practice on Wednesday and he ran the scout team for the Broncos during the session. He last played in a game November 15 against the Chiefs, after which an MRI revealed a torn left plantar fascia. “We gave him the weekend off, so we’ll see where we’re at”, Kubiak said of Manning.
“I’ve got to see where (Manning) is at”, Kubiak said. “We’ll have a plan in place by the time we get to Wednesday”. Manning left the game with an injured foot, and he has also suffered from a number of other bangs, including hurt ribs.
Manning, 39, is in midst of his worst NFL season, leading the league with 17 interceptions in just nine games. While Osweiler could not exclusively carry the burden of the defeat as the entire team’s performance contributed to their downfall, fans could not help but compare him to the NFL MVP.
Osweiler, of course, could make handing the team back to Manning much more hard if he could ignite what recently has been a stagnant offense when the Broncos travel to Pittsburgh. I don’t need to rehash how un-Manning-like No. 18 has looked all season, but it would make a lot of sense that he was dealing with a, at least partially, debilitating injury. Osweiler has been solid while leading the team to a 3-1 record with Manning out, but over the past two games the offense has not been very productive.
A three-year backup with the New England Patriots who got a chance to start at the end of 2014 for the Texans, Mallett lost a quarterback competition in training camp this year to Hoyer.
“The team knows exactly what’s going on [at quarterback]” Kubiak said, “because they’re out there every day”.
“I do think if both Manning and Osweiler are healthy…that Osweiler would be the guy – in large part because he can operate from under center”, Klis wrote. “It just happened this morning, a decision we made with what we’re doing [on Friday]”.
It should be a no-brainer: A healthy Manning should be Denver’s starter.
