Manning to practice, Osweiler to start this week

Brock Osweiler replaced him but the young quarterback is failing to deliver what is expected.

“It was a little unusual to watch Peyton take those scout team reps today”, Osweiler said after Wednesday’s workout. Manning will be inactive on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but head coach Gary Kubiak on Wednesday refused to look any further ahead than that.

Osweiler lost for the first time last week, 15-12 against the Raiders, and was sacked five times.

If Manning practices this week, it would be a significant step toward being available to play, if not this week then perhaps December 28 against the Bengals (10-3) as a test of sorts before the playoffs.

They will be at Pittsburgh (8-5) on Sunday.

Denver’s eight-game winning streak over the Raiders ended despite allowing just 126 yards of offense, including 27 yards on 24 rushes. Osweiler said. “I’m always going to look at myself first, and of course there are areas that I can work on”.

Bills: Starting cornerback Stephon Gilmore was placed on season-ending injured reserve because of a dislocated shoulder.

Osweiler has developed a strong backing from the fans and presumably from the players and coaches alike, raising questions to whether or not Peyton Manning would actually even play if or when he came back from injury anyway. Kubiak, as he has for the past month, continued to call the decision of who will play at quarterback a “week-to-week” decision.

And he defended Keo, who was playing alongside Josh Bush, who was signed two weeks ago. “And when we’re on the sideline, you’ve got Chris Harris, Aqib Talib, all those guys coming up trying to build us up, they’re not showing any animosity toward us because offensively we didn’t play well”.

“It was good. It was really good seeing him out there”, Garcia sad, “We all know that he’s been working extremely hard to get back on the field with us”. This will be Osweiler’s fifth consecutive start, but another loss could mean Manning is rushed back to the field.

“You can’t let him stay in the pocket, he can make any throw there is making sure we bring a lot of pressure and bringing him to the ground and getting some good hits on him are crucial”, Ray said. I’m proud of Brock.

Stewart out with sprained foot: Panthers coachRon Rivera says running back Jonathan Stewartwill not play Sunday against the New York Giants due to a sprained left foot.

Starting safety Andrew Sendejo (knee) and backup linebacker Brandon Watts (rib) returned to practice.

“It was definitely a blessing coach Tomlin and Rooney’s they gave me my opportunity in the national football league so I am forever thankful for that”, Sanders.
