Mannone Wants Sam to Stay

Sam Allardyce admits he is “upset” Sunderland remain in the relegation zone when they should be halfway to safety.

Sunderland’s fate in the relegation battle will become clearer this weekend, with a victory at Carrow Road leaving the Black Cats just a point behind Norwich with a game in hand, while defeat would create a potentially unassailable seven-point gap.

“Most of the players will never get a better club than this one, in my opinion”, said the Sunderland boss. “We’re not in the best situation right now but we’re not in complete turmoil so there’s definitely still confidence there and I think with the belief of the fans and their support they carry us along”. “I’ve played around with it a bit and got them thinking a little bit”.

We all know how big and important tomorrow’s game is against Sunderland – probably as important as any that the club’s had in recent years.

The loss snapped the Yellows’ two-game winning run as they now go back to the drawing board with five games left in their current campaign to try and avoid a quick demotion back next season.

“I think it would hurt the club immensely if they got relegated”.

“From there, you’ve seen what teams like Stoke have done”.

“We’ve asked all the questions among ourselves, but I don’t know why we haven’t won more games – the West Brom game for example”.

Allardyce said his players must do their best to ensure Sunderland stay in the Premier League, warning them they may not find a better club. As a football club, it’s more important for the players than it is for me in terms of my career.

The predicted result is a tough 2-1 win for Norwich City.

“If we can focus on getting clean sheets, then if we capitalise on one of our opponents’ mistakes and put the ball in the net, we get the three points”.
