Manuel Lanzini: West Ham sign Argentine midfielder

He becomes West Ham’s seventh signing this summer after Slaven Bilic replaced Sam Allardyce as manager with Darren Randolph, Pedro Obiang, Stephen Hendrie, Dimitri Payet, Angelo Ogbonna and Carl Jenkinson all recruited.

He wrote: “Manuel Lanzini has signed a season long loan!”

Known as “The Jewel”, he began his career at River Plate then moved to Al Jazira Club in the UAE via Fluminese.

Goal reported earlier this month that the Hammers were closing in on a deal for the Argentine midfielder after it was found that West Ham were comfortably able to match Lanzini’s wage demands.

West Ham were said to have been monitoring Lanzini since his time at River and his arrival will certainly bring about a lot of flair at the Boleyn Ground this season.

“This is very emotional because it is one of the best teams I have ever signed for”, he told West Ham.

He signed for Al Jazira in the summer of 2014 and went on to score on eight occasions in 24 appearances for the side last season.

“I am looking forward to what is a new era for me”.

“He’s not very strong but he rises to challenges, so I hope he could be a big one for us”.

Now, at the age of 22, he describes himself as someone who “always gives 100 percent”, claiming he can “change the game’s tempo” as an attacking midfielder.
