Manuel Neuer ‘saddened’ by Bastian Schweinsteiger exile at Manchester United
The midfield general was brought to United to add weight to Van Gaal’s possession style, but injuries prevented the German achieving an extended run in the side.

Schweinsteiger joined the Premier League club from Bayern Munich on a three-year contract in July 2015.
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer says that it is “very bitter and sad” that Bastian Schweinsteiger has been pushed out of the first team at Manchester United.
The 32-year-old midfielder, who endured an injured-plagued first season, is yet to make a competitive appearance for the Old Trafford club since Jose Mourinho took over the team this summer.
“That is all I can say about the current situation”.
“I want to thank the fans for the fantastic support over recent weeks”, the German wrote on Twitter.
A United insider said: “Marcus Rashford is going nowhere and clubs haven’t chanced their arm as a result”. Or did it suggest that he’s heading to America or China?
And because the transfer windows in the USA and China don’t reopen until May and June respectively, United could have no choice but to let Schweinsteiger leave for nothing.
The Portuguese coach has frozen out Bastian Schweinsteiger, making him train with the club’s U21s.
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho was keen to link up again with Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, according to Spanish radio station Cope.
The midfielder’s injury record suggests his time in Europe’s elite leagues is over, and MLS might prove to be the ideal environment for him as he searches for game time and the chance to find a new club. The transfer windows in the MLS and CSL don’t open until February and June respectively so he wouldn’t be able to play in those leagues until then.
