Manuel Pellegrini is hopeful Vincent Kompany’s chronic calf condition is not career threatening, although the Manchester City manager can not rule out the defender having to manage the problem until he retires.

“We went for the three points and I think that we had more possession than Leicester and more attempts and did more things to win the game”. I am not a doctor, but with a muscle injury, it will be very hard for him to be back in less than four weeks.
Pellegrini insists that while he is concerned with City’s away record – they have taken only three points from the last 18 on the road – he is not unhappy with the level of performances in their last two trips against title rivals Leicester and Arsenal.
“It’s not the same injury, the same calf but in a different part”. His latest comeback against Sunderland last weekend lasted only nine minutes.
Leicester City have enjoyed a remarkable 2015 as they battled from the bottom of the Premier League to fight it out at the very top. “But I think this is a special season”.
He added: “I’m sure it’s (the Club’s perceptions) going to remain the same, which is taking each game at a time to see how far we can really get”.
City began December in first place, ahead of Leicester City on goal difference, but picked up just seven points from their next five games to slip to third place.
