Manuel Pellegrini hails Manchester City’s character after beating Watford
Manchester City travel to high-flying Watford in the Premier League on Saturday, January 2, as the Citizens look to keep in touch with Leicester City and Arsenal at the top of the table.

Watson fizzed a corner right into a gathering melee at the near post, and the ball flicked off Kolarov’s head and nestled in the bottom corner of a helpless Hart’s net.
Aguero and Yaya Toure both scored in the last 10 minutes to overturn Aleksandar Kolarov’s headed own goal to give City a crucial win at Vicarage Road.
Pellegrini told the BBC, “I’m sure we’ll see in the second part of the season the performances of Aguero we’re used to”. Of course, if we don’t win away games we must improve.
Brilliant late goals from Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero rescued Manchester City as they came from behind to beat Watford in an entertaining finale. “It’s very hard to explain to the players why we haven’t won today – we did everything good”. The strength in depth will really start to play a key-role as the injury list tends to increase during this time in the season. We’re utilising our squad. Every time we have been close to positive results.
“We are thinking of going game by game but when you win a game like we did here there is a lot of trust in the team”. I love how he manages the team.
The Hornets were unlucky not to grab all three points against Manuel Pellegrini’s power brokers, but this 2-1 defeat to the two-time Premier League champions was more about the visitors’ capabilities than the home side’s deficiencies. A corner kick by Kolarov came straight to Toure who volleyed the ball into Watford’s net, with his left foot, to put his club back into contention for the three points or at least a share of the spoils.
They largely outplayed City until Toure and Aguero’s goals and winger Jose Manuel Jurado, whose creativity and touch particularly impressed, revealed the encouragement he has taken from their recent performances against Tottenham and City.
Watford were many people’s favourites for relegation this season, but the Hornets have broken all expectations to amazingly find themselves just two points back of the European places at the half-way point of the campaign.
– There were just two minutes and 36 seconds between Manchester City’s equalising and winning goals in this match.
“(City) have an fantastic team, they have incredible players.

“Two of the goals were offside and everybody knows that, so I can say nothing [bad] about the defensive line”.
