Manuel Pellegrini happy with Manchester City achievements

Neither side could find the back of the net after that, and Man City sent Manuel Pellegrini off with a point in his last match as manager.

Pellegrini arrived at the Etihad Stadium from La Liga club Malaga in the summer of 2013, and he proceeded to win the Premier League title in his first season in charge as part of a double with the League Cup.

Manchester City secured fourth place and Arsenal overhauled their arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur to come second on a dramatic final day of the Premier League season when a bomb scare rocked Old Trafford yesterday.

“I wanted to win the Premier League, but the atmosphere from February when the club announced the new manager was maybe not the best”, Pellegrini said.

“Hopefully we can get a good result against Manchester City and then I will look forward to working with the squad during pre-season and getting to know them a little better”, Guidolin said.

Meanwhile the away supporters at the Liberty also saluted their manager Manuel Pellegrini who was saying goodbye after three years in charge. They need to beat Bournemouth in their final game and wait for City to lose to finish at fourth spot in the standings.

“We are also the team that in each of the three seasons scored the most goals. I felt they have really supported me in three seasons here and support me in every game which is important”, Pellegrini said. “We are not thinking about anything more”.

“So I’m very proud to manage this squad”.

Now all it will take here is a draw (owing to their vastly superior goal difference) to ensure that they grab a top four spot for Pep Guardiola’s men next year. When you compare which team has the most points, it’s our team.

Federico Fernandez headed wide from a corner, but Swansea were not to threaten again and City’s race with United was effectively won. This will mean that the home side will not be at the top of their game which makes life easier for Manchester City.

Pellegrini said: “It is so important (for it) to just depend on what we can do”.

However, City’s failings this season – they were touted as favourites for the Premier League title before a ball was kicked last August – were summed up in 90 frustrating minutes when they somehow failed to put Swansea to the sword. We finish qualifying the team for next season [in the Champions League] and at the moment we had to prioritise we could not continue in the FA Cup.

“During the three seasons, the fans always tell me that they enjoy our games”.
