Many Google Nexus 6P owners are now reporting problems with the microphone
Many 6P owners have reported that covering the rear mic intentionally solves the problem, while many argue that it is the actual cause of the issue. This could seriously hurt Google as the Nexus 6P was announced only a few weeks ago and users have barely started to get their hands on the new device. Previously, Nexus 6P buyers complained about the shattering rear camera glass covering, and now there are concerns about the built-in microphone. This is highly disappointing as Nexus flagships usually do not have such problems, moreover it it is the most reliable smartphones line-up introduced by Google. Other users however claim that it is probably the obstructing of the rear microphone that is causing the issue in the first place.

Reports about the Nexus 6P handset’s on-board microphone issue on Google product forums and XDA have revealed that the microphone has a low quality, muffled, in-call sound, because of which Nexus 6P users’ voice in a call is poorly received by the person at the other end.
Don’t be surprised if you hear of problems with the latest Nexus phones. He says, “I turned off noise cancelling via build prop and it fixed it for me”. Fingers crossed that these pains can be alleviated in a software update that makes the noise cancellation microphones less sensitive. However, rooting the phone would void warranty, thus is not endorsed. If so, Google will also look for answers from the phone maker, Huawei, who is responsible for the on-board hardware.

The speculated hardware issue comes at a relatively bad time for Huawei, when it is reportedly looking to overtake Samsung in smartphone race. The good news is that it doesn’t seem to be a major issue and the problem only seems to happen with one particular charger, so there are ways around it.
