Many shoppers get head start on Black Friday activity
There was a long line to get into the Livermore outlets on Thanksgiving Day because they opened at 6 p.m. and stayed open all night long.

Although she was able to find a good many things she was looking for on Black Friday, Faith Wallace, who had been visiting stores since early that morning, echoed that sentiment saying that the Black Friday deals she saw didn’t seem any better than the ones she had encountered while shopping the night before.
Shay said reports of long lines of shoppers waiting to enter stores on Thanksgiving and Black Friday “were matched by reports of record-breaking online sales”.
It’s fanning of the customer base that’s taken at least some of the focus away from being the first in the store Friday morning. In fact, millions of people try to upgrade their television sets every Black Friday sale as there are many retail stores that offer great TV deals during this day.
“Researcher Shoppertrack says retail stores rang up $3.2 billion in sales last Thanksgiving, while the Thursday/Friday period total was some $12.29 billion in sales at retail”, USA Today reported.
The Super Bowl of shopping had an early start again this year, but the game isn’t over yet. Ten years ago, major retailers would focus on the 10 best items and discount them below costs, he said. “There’s no one out here!”
“I was raised this way”, Decastro said.
About 135.8 million Americans are expected to shop in stores or online over the four-day weekend, according to the National Retail Federation, the largest US retail trade organization. He added marijuana gift-giving is becoming more common, though most were shopping for themselves Friday.
“There’s a ton of prep that goes into place making sure we have people in the right places at the right times”, said Courtney Livermore, Best Buy operations assistant store manager. Past year we were open shorter on Thanksgiving. Survey respondents shopping over the Thanksgiving weekend expect 59 percent of their spending to be online, up from 52 percent past year, compared to 36 percent in stores, down from 45 percent in 2014. “Members of our team who went to the malls first had no problem finding parking or navigating stores”.
Other retailers being singled out on social media for slow websites included fashion hub Boohoo.com, Boots, River Island and Debenhams.
He pointed to the fact more Americans are seeing an increase in pay, hiring has been strong this year, and lower gases prices mean more money in everyone’s pockets.
But the predicted in-store chaos of previous year failed to materialise, with one expert claiming Friday’s discount bonanza was “like signing a death warrant” for retailers and more than a quarter of high street shops had d ecided not to take part.
By the end of the day retail analyst Experian-IMRG predicts that spending online would hit £1.07 billion, a 32% increase on last year’s £810 million, and companies have struggled to keep their websites up and running.

“I think people are starting to realize what Black Friday shopping is like and they are spreading out their shopping more”.
