Johnny Football was nearly ideal against the 49ers, throwing for 270 yards and a touchdown in Cleveland’s 24-10 win. The 49ers offense was invisible, totaling barely 100 yards after three quarters thanks to way too many sacks allowed and no running game.
“Maybe we did take them a little light, ” said Niners linebacker Ahmad Brooks. “It’s not an excuse”. “They see what we all see”.
It was technique things more than mental as I see it right now. “I really didn’t know if it was going to be like that, but you have to stay prepared in every game”.
Browns tight end Gary Barnidge said Manziel’s teammates “are going to be behind him no matter what”.
“It just felt like we didn’t bother to show up and play, ” said left offensive tackle Joe Staley.
Gabbert’s fifth start didn’t go very well.
Notable: The Seahawks faced quarterback Jimmy Clausen for the second time with two different teams. “If Alex can’t go, next guy steps in and we’ve got to solidify it and we’ve got to make sure that we put our guys in a position to get it blocked up so we can throw the football”.
It starts up front. In this league, everybody’s looking for some real fancy answer to what the problems are, and I think it’s pretty simple. It’s safe to say that wide receiver is a need, that must be addressed within the first three rounds of next years draft. Other than that, the 49ers were flat and flattened.
The lone bright spot was kicker Phil Dawson’s return to Cleveland, where he played for 14 seasons. And as the moments were replayed, Dawson was overcome with memories of a place he’ll always cherish. I’m trying not to break down on the sideline and zero in on kicking and paying attention to the wind. “The number is starting to climb but for me, these mean a lot to me”. “That’s no excuse. Maybe we got a little bigheaded and just thought a victory was going to happen”.
The running back who replaced the Australian, Kendall Gaskins, suffered a concussion in the 49ers’ humiliating loss on Sunday (NZT Monday) to the Cleveland Browns.
Crowell became the first Cleveland player to top the century mark since Ben Tate rushed for 124 yards on October 5, 2014, at Tennessee.
Assuming Manziel doesn’t think this is STILL freakin’ A & M and parties himself back into the doghouse, the last three games will be an excellent, and perhaps even deciding audition that will reveal whether he’s worth investing in any further, or if it’s time for the Browns – whoever is calling the shots after the season – to call the whole thing off.
“I could have guessed that could have been part of it, ” said Barnidge. “But it’s a special, special place, and I love it”.

“Crow” also accounted for the two longest plays of the afternoon, breaking through the line for a 54-yarder in the fourth quarter after busting off a 50-yard gain in the first.
