Marcelo Bielsa says he has resigned as Marseille coach
Bielsa, who is preparing his team for their Ligue 1 opener against Caen on Saturday, said there had been no contact despite links.

In the classic fashion of a Bielsa-coached side, Marseille started inconsistently as they became used to his high-octane style but an eight-match winning streak from August into October saw the south coast club storm to the top of the standings.
“There is no excuse for this defeat”, said Bielsa, staring down at a sheet of paper. “I will return to my home country”.
Marseille boss Marcelo Bielsa insists he has received no official approach from Mexico over the vacant managerial role.
“I thank the fans for always being behind me during games and on a daily basis”.
‘I have given all I have to this team.’.
“I have quitted my position as coach“, Bielsa told reporters during the press conference after the game against Caen in Marseille.
“The project for this new season has changed in June and July”.

He has lasted barely beyond two years at any of his former clubs – Newell’s Old Boys and Velez Sarsfield in his homeland, Atlas and Club America in Mexico and Spanish sides Espanyol and Athletic Bilbao – with longer stints only in global jobs with Argentina and Chile.
