Republican presidential hopeful Marco Rubio on Thursday played down controversy over his finances as “not a big deal” after coming under attack from rival candidate Donald Trump.

Speaking with ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Wednesday, Rubio answered questions about his financial history brought up by his opponents and media investigations. “I’m not going to release them”, Rubio said to the Times-Union of Jacksonville in 2010.
He did say that Rubio’s voting record is not an issue and that attacks on his work ethic are Democratic concoctions to hurt his nomination. Rubio argues that the card was mistakenly used, and he paid back the credit card company directly for personal expenses purchased on the card.

Donald Trump told Fox News’ Sean Hannity Tuesday night that he would launch television ads later this week for the first time in his campaign, a response to Ben Carson’s recent surge into first place in a few national polls.
“If there was a personal expense, I paid it. If it was a party expense, the party paid it”, Rubio said. “But the Republican Party never paid a single expense of mine – personal expense”. “When they are ready, we’ll make them available”, he said.
The New York Times reported he used the card to buy groceries, airline tickets, paving stones for his house and to pay for a family reunion.

Trump has been hitting Rubio over his financial history on the trail, mocking his personal debt and raising concerns about personal expenses that were charged to a Republican Party of Florida card. “It doesn’t say who they belong to, but every expense is on there, and as we’ve said, we’ll release those reports soon”.
