Marco Rubio is getting thrashed after dissing Florida State
There’s no room for that in college football fandom.

Florida State University president John Thrasher slugged back at Republican presidential candidate and Sen. He used it as a platform to alienate Florida State fans.
Rubio, a Miami native, said while he doesn’t root against the Hurricanes, he wouldn’t mind seeing Miami get defeated by Florida State if it would help Florida secure a playoff bid.
Rubio, who attended the University of Florida and the University of Miami School of Law, waded into the college football rivalry between Florida State and the University of Florida during a radio interview on Monday.
Rubio admitted that FSU has been the more successful program in recent years. Thrasher said during an interview that Rubio is a “nice kid” who’s probably frustrated by his low poll ranking, which may be due to his education.
Rubio, on Tuesday, wanted to remind everyone that college football smack talk ain’t exactly platforms or policy material. Rubio spoke in a way that would not surprise anyone who has spent five minutes around a Gator fan talking trash about the Seminoles or vice versa.
The USA senator’s campaign staff uploaded audio from the interview onto his Soundcloud page three days ago.

Rubio also may have rankled New England Patriots fans during his radio interview. This Friday night game will give Florida Atlantic a chance to showcase its 5-year-old stadium against a marquee opponent.
