Florida’s high-stakes U.S. Senate race is tightening, with incumbent Republican Marco Rubio holding a three-point edge over Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy, according to a poll released Thursday.

Rubio is beating Murphy with a key demographic: independents.

Similarly, Grayson trailed Rubio by 12 points in the July poll but was down by a margin of 49 percent to 43 percent in Thursday’s poll. Murphy trails Rubio with independent voters, 51% to 41%. Though he is considered the front-runner heading into the August 30 primary, his campaign has been hampered by reporting showing that he exaggerated his resume, including his experience as a Certified Public Accountant and small-business owner.

Either Grayson or Murphy has to be hoping Republican Carlos Beruff can pull an upset against Rubio in the GOP primary. In Ohio, they polled 812 voters with a margin of error of 3.4 percentage points.

Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey, said of Trump’s Monday speech “I didn’t follow it closely”. In Pennsylvania, Democrat Katie McGinty leads incumbent Sen.

Races this year for Republican-held seats in states such as Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Wisconsin and New Hampshire could largely determine whether the GOP retains control of the Senate.

“At this stage of the campaign, Republican U.S. Senate candidates may be running against their own presidential nominee, Donald Trump, as much as they are against their Democratic opponents”, Brown said. Rob Portman in OH, who faces off against Democrat and former Gov. Ted Strickland.

If Clinton wins in November, Democrats would need to win 4 seats held by Republicans now to regain the majority.
