After surviving a late Titans drive and going to overtime, the Saints’ defense continued to get dominated by rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota and the Titans’ offense, which easily drove 80 yards on nine plays in 5:10 for the game-winning TD drive in overtime to snap their six-game losing streak.
Against the Saints, however, Mariota wasn’t sacked.
“It was an absolutely great win for this team, ” said Mularkey, who also teared up in the post-game press conference before over two dozen reporters and cameramen. “It’s been an emotional week for everybody on this team”. The Titans defeated the Saints 34-28 in overtime. It’s only one game, but Mularkey has started off on the right foot and the differences have been immediately visible.
While Mariota should have a good game, he won’t be able to escape New Orleans without a few bruises. We get in field goal range, and get a kick blocked. The Saints did not sack him once.

What it means: This team played hard and pretty well for Mike Mularkey in his fist game as interim coach, and the offense picked up for the defense.
The ball hit the crossbar and bounced back. “When you lose the turnover battle … can’t execute just a simple field goal, it’s going to be up and down”.
Byrd said there was no one to blame for the defensive gaffe, adding that the play was not comparable to a pop-fly in baseball in which fielders can communicate without concern for proximity of opposing players. Linebacker Wesley Woodyard drew an unsportsmanlike penalty for arguing a defensive holding call.
I actually (spoke to Fasano) because I wanted to put that play in, this was about a month ago. “You are struggling, fighting, scratching and trying to win”.
“Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good,…” That is not acceptable. The players were more loose than we’ve seen in previous games and were cautiously reckless. They dig themselves in a big hole to start the season and start to dig out of it and have a chance to go over the. “We’ve got to get that cleaned up”.
He finished 28 of 39 for 371 yards and foiur touchdowns. He deflected his achievement to the offensive line. Like I said last week, it’s a challenge for all those guys in coverage.
“So that’s why I asked him, would you like to talk about the entire game?”

And wins and losses affect the bottom line, which also apparently influenced Strunk to pull the plug on Whisenhunt and thus reset the quest for stability. The three combined for 12 catches, 153 yards and three touchdowns – all season-highs for that position group – and all three had multiple receptions.
