“I’m honored, I’m humbled”, Stroman said Wednesday.

Gibbons said there’s also a good chance that the 24-year-old will start in the Jays home opener at the Rogers Centre on April 8 against the Boston Red Sox. I got in lots of work trying to keep it in the park.
Despite missing the first five months last season after injuring his knee during fielding practice in March, Stroman returned for four starts in September, going 4-0 with a 1.67 ERA. “I’m just thankful to be in the position I am”.
The Jays are expecting big things from Stroman this year, hoping he establishes himself as a bona fide ace.
Before leaving the Toronto Blue Jays, John Gibbons spoke with Alex Anthopoulos about removing the rollover clause in his contract, which would essentially exchange his lame duck status for a bump in pay and a more defined contract.
Daniel Norris, Matt Boyd, Shane Greene and Buck Farmer are among the pitchers manager Brad Ausmus will have to choose from as Opening Day rapidly approaches.
“There’s a possibility we could do that too, we’ve talked about it”, Gibbons said.
The right-hander from Medford, N.Y., was slated to start opening day for the Blue Jays this past season, but suffered a torn ACL early in spring training. Considering how well liked Gibbons is in the clubhouse, it’s nice to see him get rewarded for his recent success. He was still waiting to hear from his former Toronto mentor, Mark Buehrle.
