Margot Robbie, The Weeknd set for ‘SNL’ season debut

NBC said Thursday that The Weeknd will be the musical guest when the show returns October 1.

We suppose that Robbie’s hosting stint is probably rightly-timed given the success of her movie at the box office, and also the fact that you probably have at least two friends who are going to be dressing up as Harley Quinn for Halloween this year.

The Weeknd’s album “Starboy” is scheduled for release in November.

SNL came in pretty close to the wire for Season 42, and just over a week from the fall 2016 premiere, our first host and musical guests have arrived.

“Saturday Night Live” is produced in association with Broadway Video.

This marks the first time Australian actress Robbie has ever hosted an episode of the comedy series, though she did co-star in the film Whiskey Tango Foxtrot this year opposite Saturday Night Live alumna Tina Fey. Jon Rudnitsky will also not return after one season on the variety show.

As previously reported, Season 42 will welcome three new members to its ranks as America’s Got Talent contestant Melissa Villaseñor, Saturday Night Live writer/Maya & Marty star Mikey Day, and Chicago comedian Alex Moffat.
