Mariah Carey joins The Lego Batman Movie
According to THR, Carey will not be playing Commissioner Gordon, but the as-yet-unnamed mayor of Gotham.

Most of the casting for The Lego Batman Movie has made a few sense, but this one doesn’t seem possible. The original report follows… Commissioner Gordon is nearly certainly the only role that Carey and Gary Oldman, who played the character in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight films, will ever have in common.
It probably goes without saying that none of these actors are Legos, all of them are men, and none of them are Mariah Carey. There’s no doubt that the songstress is blessed with a gifted voice – it’s her acting prowess that’s likely to stir doubt in Batman fans.
Since Will Arnett’s LEGO Batman is cartoonishly serious, that means that the supporting cast around him can afford to get goofy. Carey is famous for her eight-octave range … hopefully included somewhere in there is the ability to deliver a few pretty silly jokes. Then of course, Phil Lord and Chris Miller will direct The Lego Movie Sequel, which will target theaters May 2018. Is Commissioner Gordon now a woman, or just being played by one?
