Mariah Carey says ‘American Idol’ was ‘an abusive experience’

Hopefully, Mariah’s World will show at least a bit of what Carey is all about, whether it is a reality commonly defined or not.

“First of all, I don’t consider this reality”.

But when it comes to her own show, Carey is working with producers to ensure the eight-part docu-series is as authentic as possible. “That’s not what he does, so I can’t expect him to change his whole thing”.

The show does seem interesting, as viewers will get to see the pop diva in her essence and in her element. Or is she just stirring up drama for her new reality TV show?

Mariah Carey spilled some tea about her personal life during a Q&A at the annual gathering of the Television Critics Association. “I don’t even know what reality is, literally, in terms of what’s real and not real”, she added, laughing.

The 46-year-old singer – who has five-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with estranged husband Nick Cannon and is engaged to billionaire James Packer – recently took a swipe at Nicki during an interview with “Watch What Happens Live” star Andy Cohen.

A pair of hair and make-up artists came on stage to provide a touch-up during the 30 minute news conference, with her telling the crowd: “I hope you don’t mind”.

“I’m sorry, was that rude in some way?” she continued.

According to Carey, her kids have both inherited some form of their mothers musical genes.

“I’d rather, like, make everything fun”, Mariah announces while reclining on a couch and wearing a sequined bustier, fishnets, fluffy slippers, and enough diamonds to blind you. “By the way, you’ve just driven me to drink”, and hoisted her champagne flute. “They’re really into traveling”. More purposefully ditsy when she wanted to be, but more sharp and charming, too.

Carey did, however, clear up any ideas that this would be a reality TV show as only she could. “Oh, it was the most abusive experience”, she told journalists at a press summit in the spring (via Billboard).

Entertainment Weekly also asked Mariah Carey about her favorite Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) moment so far. “It’s not because they’re my kids”. Mariah grants exclusive access to her life behind the mic, including her family, friends and inner circle who keep her at the top of her game when “Mariah’s World” premieres in the US and Canada on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 9:00pm.
