His injury that had everyone in a panic about was only a bruised foot.

Forward Marian Hossa logged 10:47 of ice time in a World Cup exhibition game Thursday night but reportedly took a puck to the skate and headed to the hospital for x-rays.

The veteran Chicago Blackhawks forward is the most prolific career goal-scorer on the Team Europe roster, starting the exhibition game against Team North America on the second line.

One of the biggest reasons against bringing back the Olympic-style tournament was potential injuries to star National Hockey League players before the regular season begins. He went to the hospital to undergo x-rays, reports TVA Sports’ Renaud Lavoie, although he’s going to be joining his teammates on their flight to Montreal tonight and reportedly told Team Europe’s coach it’s not serious. Sixty-four games was the lowest number he’s played with the Blackhawks in a season.

The 37-year-old Hossa is entering his 18th full National Hockey League season.

If Hossa’s injury had been more serious, and perhaps leaked into the start of the NHL’s regular season, the Blackhawks would have been put in a tough spot.
