Alena Sharp is counting on her two secret weapons to improve on her best-ever performance on the LPGA Tour – Chandler and Porter, her dogs. “It’s been a little while – and I keep saying it – but it’s been a while since I felt that kind of energy and felt like I could have an awesome score”. “But, then I wasn’t really comfortable with my club selection on No. 8, a par-3, and I tried knocking down a 7-iron and just double-crossed it into the water on the left”. She recently went through coaching and club changes.

“Yeah. Super happy”, said Alex. The South Korean enjoyed more success on her back nine as she made four birdies to put herself ahead of the competition heading into the second round on Friday. “I want to play my golf, yeah”. And I tried to get better.

Sharp had an uneven round going with three birdies and three bogeys through her first 12 holes but then birdied her last three holes to get into a tie with Leblanc. “My chipping wasn’t spectacular, but good enough to have gotten me a top-20 finish”.

How would you like to have Mats Sundin in your corner?

If Day 3 of the Manulife LPGA Classic taught us anything, it’s that Canadian women’s golf is in a pretty solid place these days.

Kim closed with a birdie for a 67. And, on No. 10, I just had a really bad lie about one yard off the fairway and had to punch out.

Holmqvist said she’ll likely check out Legends Row at the Air Canada Centre, where a statue of Sundin stands with other past stars from the team.

“Not exactly what I was looking for”, Henderson said. She has attracted the biggest crowd at Whistle Bear. Barely? Well, not surprising. She won the 2014 Mizuno Classic in Japan for her lone tour title.

“I’ll start at final stage”, said Rohanna. Miyazato said after shooting a four-under 68. “I think past year was a little cooler the first few days”. The 56-year-old South African player eagled the par-5 11th and 18th holes at Canyon Meadows in the round interrupted by lightning, thunder, hail and heavy rain.

Unfortunately for Kerr, she couldn’t keep up her momentum.

Even with two bogeys, the American Alex was able to best her previous career low by two shots thanks to eight birdies and an eagle on the ninth, her final hole of the day.
