3B Kyle Seager snapped out of his funk, slapping an RBI single to right in the 12th inning to give the Mariners an insurance run in Sunday’s win.

The Mariners swept the three-game series versus Boston the last time they faced the Red Sox at Fenway Park (August 22-24, 2014). “I can honestly tell you I’m extremely fortunate that it was found. Treatment will begin in the coming days”, he said. “We were up 7-1 and have a chance to add on”. “When that happens in this type of ballpark, you know something is going to come at the end“. Bradley Jr. continue to turn heads as the ballclub traveled to Miami for a two-game set against the Marlins, hitting 3-for-8 with a triple and three runs scored despite the Red Sox dropping both contests in disturbing fashion.

And just like that, the Red Sox were up 19-2.

Rob Rasmussen (2-1) worked two scoreless innings. We need a good start tomorrow.

Nelson Cruz hit his major league-leading 35th homer for the Mariners.

Lovullo chose not to pinch-run for Ortiz, which made sense given that Boston likely needed an extra-base hit to score whoever was stationed at first base.

The Yankees-Blue Jays showdown was tempered by Friday night’s news about the cancer diagnosis of former Toronto manager John Farrell. Logan Morrison then put down a sacrifice bunt.

Red Sox seventh. S.Smith in as left fielder.

The Mariners got off to a fast start, building a 7-0 lead against rookie left-hander Henry Owens.

But two straight games like that? Rusney Castillo led off the very next inning in similar fashion, with Travis Shaw doubling and eventually scoring behind him to make it a four-run game.

Lovullo, who supported Butterfield’s decision to send Ortiz, had no regrets. “Every pitch I threw, they hit it”.

Cano homered over the bullpens in the first, and Gutierrez followed with a drive about 20 rows deep into the centre-field bleachers.

Following the Sox’ recent offensive outburst, Owens has to like his odds of picking up his second major league win Sunday in his home debut.

Yasiel Puig and Kike Hernandez homered during a five-run second inning, and Adrian Gonzalez and Justin Turner also homered for Los Angeles. Detroit slugger Miguel Cabrera returned from a six-week stint on the disabled list with a calf strain and went 0 for 3 with two strikeouts and a walk.

“He was just cruising through their lineup.” he said. “We need him back being the guy he’s capable of being”, Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said.

“By and large, I’m not going to lose any confidence from this outing”, Owens said.

Another high-scoring inning came in the second for the LA Dodgers – they scored five – who finished 8-3 winners against the Cincinnati Reds. Boston gave 3B Pablo Sandoval (right elbow contusion) the day off after leaving Saturday’s game with an injury. “When you start hitting the balls all over that’s great for me as a hitter to be able to go opposite field with good power”.

Tyler Duffey allowed one hit in six innings while the Minnesota Twins got home runs from Eddie Rosario, Chris Herrmann and Brian Dozier in a 4-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians.

At points, it appeared as if the Red Sox would complete a task for the first time all season – win when trailing after 8 innings. Seattle recalled RHP Danny Farquhar from Triple-A Tacoma.
