If only he could have finished the same way.

Mariners starter Ariel Miranda (2-1) overcame a rough first inning for his first win as a major-league starter.
“I was just trying to put a ball in play”, Calhoun said.
We know, it feels far too early to be talking about back-to-school, but the truth is that it’s. “That’s all you want”.
“That’s baseball”, Trout said with a shrug.
The nine runs equaled Seattle’s season high for one inning. However, it’s worth noting that each homer had a wrinkle to it that made them all more memorable respectively and collectively.
In 15 games against the Mariners this season, Trout is hitting.353 with seven home runs, two triples, two doubles and 17 RBIs, with 17 runs scored.
“It was a good offensive night”, Seattle manager Scott Servais said.
And then, the second inning started.
Jefry Marte’s RBI single put the Angels ahead 10-2 before Seattle slugger Nelson Cruz hit his 34th home run of the season in the bottom of the fourth. After the game, the Angels announced that a CT scan revealed Shoemaker suffered the small fracture and hematoma. The rookie left-hander’s only other victory came after he gave up the go-ahead run in a relief role, only to get the win after a Seattle comeback. “We needed the win”.
Friday: Trout went 1 for 3 with a three-run HR and two walks in the Angels’ 11-8 loss to Seattle.
Miranda, however, recovered to pitch six innings without allowing another run.
Los Angeles starter Brett Oberholtzer (1-1) didn’t fare almost as well.
Shoemaker gave up one hit but struck out two opposing batters in 1.1 innings of work before being struck by the line drive.
The performance left manager Mike Scioscia wondering what to do about his rotation moving forward. “Obviously, not the start we were looking for or (what) he was looking for”.
The Angels (59-75) had their five-game winning streak snapped.
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Matt Shoemaker is assisted off the field after being hit by a line drive from Seattle Mariners’ Kyle Seager in the second inning of a baseball game, Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, in Seattle.
Pinch-hitter Juan Graterol, making his major-league debut in the ninth, had an RBI double in his first career at-bat after 527 games played in the minor leagues. He dropped to the ground and left the game with a towel on his head in the second inning.
Trout said he was fine before the game and had no lingering pain, two days after he was involved in a multi-vehicle accident on a Los Angeles freeway.
Marte, batting ninth, led the way and No. 6 hitter Dae-Ho Lee added two singles and two RBIs.
Ketel Marte then singled into right, driving in the Mariners’ second run.
After allowing six of the nine batters he faced to reach base, Oberholtzer was charged with five runs.
“I felt really good in the bullpen and I guess it just didn’t transfer over”, said Walker (4-10), who lost his third straight start since being recalled from Triple A-Tacoma on August 23. The two teams wrap up a three-game series on Sunday.

Chacin would get the second out with the Angels down 5-4, but he ended up allowing three hits and two walks – one intentional. They also activated 3B Yunel Escobar from the 7-day concussion disabled list. Escobar was in the leadoff spot for the Angels. Seattle added C Jesus Sucre to the expanded roster, recalling him from Triple-A Tacoma. The Angels recalled Graterol and LHP Cody Ege, and selected the contract of RHP Andrew Bailey from Triple-A Salt Lake. Marte added a two-out solo homer as Los Angeles pulled out to a 4-0 advantage.
