Mario Götze joins Borussia Dortmund

Mario Gotze looks to be on the verge of returning to Borussia Dortmund after three largely frustrating seasons at Bayern Munich, with new manager Carlo Ancelotti wishing him well if he leaves the club.

Gotze, who scored the victor in Germany’s 2014 World Cup triumph, left BVB in 2013 for the Bavarian giants, and after netting 36 goals in 114 appearances for Munich, heads back to Dortmund, signing a four-year deal with the club, subject to a medical.

The German global admitted to teammates at Euro 2016 that his future lay elsewhere, amid reported interest from the Premier League, most notably a reunion with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

“Gotze has been at Bayern for three years and it did not work out for him”, he told Sport1. I would not even take it so today!

When I return to my home, I want to try to convince all people with my performances – especially those who will not receive me with open arms.

Goetze went on to win 3 Bundesliga titles with Munich but his contribution to the wins was not satisfactory.

“It was tough for him here, also because of the many injuries he had”, added the Frenchman.

“It’s a very good opportunity to play for United”, he said. “For all of us, the club and the BVB fans”.

“We have not reached an agreement with anyone, not with the club, nor with the player”. He was the nineteen year old wonderkid, and considered to be the best German youth talent at that time.
