TMZ previously reported that Angelina Jolie’s ex-husband was being investigated for getting verbally abusive and physical with his children.

Jolie is seeking physical custody of their six children.
Earlier Thursday, reports from People magazine and TMZ claimed the actor was under investigation following a drunken incident on September 14.
Apparently, the shocking child abuse claims made against Brad Pitt, alleging that the actor was physically and verbally abusive while intoxicated on a private plane last Wednesday are being handled by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to TMZ. Attempts to reach representatives for Pitt in Los Angeles were not successful.
According to TMZ, “The plane landed at an airport around 8 p.m., and witnesses say Pitt continued his rant on the tarmac, and even tried leaving in one of the fuel trucks”.
A Los Angeles Police Department spokesman said earlier Thursday that Pitt is not the subject of a child abuse investigation by Los Angeles police, despite “rumors” to the contrary.
A source close to Pitt told TMZ that he is taking the matter seriously and did not abuse the children.
The celebrity news site is reporting that the alleged incident, which its sources say occurred during a trip last Wednesday on the family private jet when Pitt was intoxicated, was what prompted Angelina Jolie to file for divorce the following Tuesday. “It’s unfortunate that people involved are continuing to present him in the worst possible light”.
“Both Brad and Angelina are highly successful in their own right so, it’s unlikely there will be much wrangling over money and child maintenance”. In documents filed in court on Monday, Jolie cited irreconcilable differences in ending their marriage of two years.

“This decision was made for the health of the family”, Jolie said of the divorce in a statement released by her attorney. “I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time”.
