Mark Hamill Getting Big Payday For “The Force Awakens” Secret

Jurassic World reached $1 billion in just thirteen days and that is another record that may be under threat when The Force Awakens is finally released.

Star Wars The Force Awakens doesn’t hit the movie theaters until next month and the movie has already more than $50 million in the bank ahead of its launch. The trade magazine obtained the details from Fandango. This is all to say nothing of the merchandise sales, which have likely already been through the roof on tiny, round droids alone. However, there are still a number of tickets left. Disney, in its eagerness to break holiday box office records, took further measures to ensure that theaters play their film for at least three whole weeks in order to cover the holiday period through New Year’s Day. No film has ever opened to more than $100 million in December due to the competitive season.

When Exhibitor Relations tweeted the figures it blew the previous record, held by The Hunger Games, out of the water, doubling the previous figure.

The question remains how much Disney will deliver, and if the film meets expectations.

Roy Pritchard, gallery manager for Leeds Castle Galleries, said: “With the much anticipated launch of The Force Awakens, we expect this series of signed limited edition works to fly off the shelves”.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens cast includes new Star Wars members John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Christina Chong, Crystal Clarke, and Pip Andersen.

Mark Hamill may have hinted that the mystery surrounding Luke Skywalker in the latest film is actually a very big secret. While Star Wars will perform, whether it “catches fire in countries like China and Russian Federation, where Star Wars isn’t the long-established cultural phenomenon it is in the West”, will determine how well it does overall, as WSJ states.
