“I’m told #Saints RB Mark Ingram is dealing with a serious shoulder injury”.
New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram has a shoulder injury that could sideline him for the rest of the season, NFL Media’s Rand Getlin reported Wednesday.
When meeting with reporters after the story broke, Drew Brees did not confirm the injury, but added Ingram would be missed if he were out for a significant period of time. With four games left in the season he would have a chance to break the 1,000-yard rushing mark.
Ingram won the Heisman Trophy at Alabama for the 2009 season and was a first-round draft choice of New Orleans in 2011.
Ingram’s first touchdown in four weeks came in Week 13 against the Carolina Panthers. However, this could help explain why he has received just 26 carries in the past three games combined.

Ingram, 25, has been one of the few bright spots in a dismal season for the Saints (4-8). His final run resulted in a 9-yard touchdown.
