Mark Richt on being mentioned for Miami job
“Obviously, I’d love to be considered for that opportunity”, Davis said.

Davis, who coached the Hurricanes from 1995-2000 before leaving for the Cleveland Browns, was asked Monday if he’s interested in replacing Al Golden, who was sacked Sunday, at Miami, and Davis didn’t play coy.
Miami wants to return to the time when “The U” was respected throughout the college football world, and it sounds like one of the coaches responsible for those glory days is up for a reunion. “I’ve told people many, many times that everything that I ever accomplished as a coach has its roots in Miami”. Cristobal has head coaching experience having spent six seasons transforming FIU from by far the worst program in Division I into one that went to two bowl games.
Cristobal isn’t the biggest name, but he has been a successful head coach in the area before, he’s a Miami alumnus, and he could be a good choice to try and hold on to Miami’s strong future recruiting classes.
It’s not the first time Davis has expressed his interest in returning to Miami. “Hopefully my name will be one that will have an opportunity to be considered”.
Now 63, Davis coached the Hurricanes from 1995-2000, going 51-20 despite scholarship restrictions early in his tenure.
According to Bovada, Davis is +175 to take the Miami coaching job.
Also on the board for the Hurricanes job are Memphis head coach Justin Fuente, Marshall coach Doc Holliday and former ‘Canes assistant Greg Schiano.

“There’s no school in America, and I don’t care who it is, that has that tight bond that you were part of that program”, Davis said.
